The mechanism in electric motors

We all are surrounded with electric motors. Do you know how they work? They are so useful in daily life that you have taken it for granted and never realized that it has a simple mechanism. The basic function of the electric motors is to utilize the magnets for generating the power. They follow the simple rules of magnetism. An electromagnet is formed with the help of copper wires and generates a magnetic field. More number of wires would enhance the magnetic power. When the electromagnet is turned on, the wires start rotating and the opposite poles of the magnets help to create the force and motion. It is a device which converts the electrical energy to mechanical energy. Electric motors are used in home appliances as well as in cars and industries.

There is different kind of mechanism in the DC and AC electric motors. The machines which require less power uses the DC motors for example, notebooks, vacuum cleaner etc. and the ones that require high power and motion uses the AC motors for example, blenders, fans etc. In AC motors the magnetic poles rotate faster, generating more power than the DC motors.
